The government did this as national examination are the main basis of Singapore's meritocracy, where hard work is rewarded duly. The more a student works hard for an examination, the more likely the person is able to score well and have better future endeavours ( even though some students don't get results though they work hard...) However, this is needed for meritocracy and our livinghood in Singapore, where meritocracy was the basis was founded under.
2. Is the national examinations much harder than other examinations in other countries?
I leave it up to you to decide what it is the end... Personally, I do feel so, but it is essentially due to the difference in vigour of the GCE in Singapore as compared to the international version. But I still livr it up to you to decide what you think...
3. Is the MOE justified to do what it is currently doing for national examinations.?
Answer: Controversial, and admittedly, hard to conclude.
It is justified as Singapore students are undoubtedly the most hardworking students in the world. Therefore, it is important for SEAB to set questions more harder than the international version, to ensure that the spread of marks will be more wider and the grades can be awarded more easily.
However, for some subjects, its just sometimes unfair to use the methods of setting the questions. For example for Combined Humanities 2204 Syllabus, Essay Topics were set to the expectation of many schools. Many wrote wonderful essays and those who studied all 5 themes were severely penalised for the national examinations...
These certain occasions were the ones that made the national examinations unmeaningful and unjustified.
4. Do you provide practice papers for national examinations?
Answer: Yes. Just email me @ littlebunniehellokitty@gmail.com and I will do just that.
