PSLE T-Score

Transformed Score has gotten the attention of most Singaporean in recent years. This is obvious as it has been mentioned in the NDP 2013 which every one would watch.
The Government want to dispose of using of such T Score as it uses the students' ranking and position as compared to other students. If a student got 221 compared to a student which got 222, many presume thay the student would got 222 is much intellectually better than the student who got 221. Thats the unnecessary comparisons that the MOE do not want to instill to PSLE students.
ULTIMATELY, I feel that such arrangement of using the grades of the students is ineffective. The MOE should be using a wider band of grades instead to judge the PSLE,  however isnt this creating the same comparison as well? If a student scored a B3 in O Level English compared to a student who gotten A2 for his English. It is obvious that the student who gotten A2 is better in English than the other student who gotten B3! In fact, using larger bands is much more worse than the students. Just one mark would cause a child spot in a secondary school. Last time, a student who has gotten 242 for a school that COP is 243 can at least appeal for a spot in the school. However, now there is a large numbers of students with the same grade appealing into a school. Now I don't see why the school has no choice but to reject all the students' appeals!
This decision is also showing the "lack of backbone" for modern students. Why would MOE make such a decision on 2013 and not earlier. Why would MOE stop listing down top and lowest aggregate scores? This is merely because that current students are emotionally weaker and vulnerable than past year students. You "reap what you sow", if the lowest aggregate candidates know that they are being the lowest in the entire cohort, they will feel remorseful as they did not even make the effort to study! I have seen PSLE student, at the eve of PSLE english paper, go out and have click outing! They should be at home preparing of one of the most important examinations of their lives! I understand that the difference of 1 point means a lot to PSLE students, however students cannot understand that that score is unreliable in understanding your position in society! It is only reliable to know your prowess in your FOUNDATIONAL knowledge. For students nowadays to take things to seriously, is showing a lack of backbone...
My advise to MOE: Keep using the PSLE T-Score, it is Singapore's tradition and culture. We should not changing the system due to complains by parents who are sort of overprotecting their children. There is no system that is entirely effective, but the T-Score system is much more reliable than the Grades-System.
For your use, I have prepared a set of Specimen Paper O Level Humanities SBCS based on PSLE T-Score! It will be ready by one working day in my next post!
Over and out.
